What do we mean by "Atrial?"

Beyond the basics: As before, we touched on inverted P waves. There were a few concepts presented regarding the PR interval when inverted P waves are present before the QRS. Try not to get caught up in this since this is a somewhat more advanced topic.

The most important thing for us to understand for now is that inverted P waves before or after a QRS are typically taught to represent junctional rhythms in most introductory nursing ECG programs so that's what we're going to stick with here. Just be aware that exceptions exist in real life settings as you progress.
